Disclaimer notice

You’re going to see Pop Punk, R&B, Pop, Hip-hop, Pop rock, Country, Rock, and whatever else varieties and genres there are on my blog.

You’ll see new bands, old bands, unsigned bands, huge artists.

Album reviews, show reviews, pictures, giveaways, interviews.

Me ramble on and on about music I love, like, dislike but not usually music I hate.

My grammar and punctuation would make my High School AP English teacher cringe.

I’ve created this blog for many reasons but one especially. I feel disconnected from the music scene and industry ever since I left my little house 20 minutes from LA. Ever since school has sucked up my time and energy. I used to spend hours surfing the internet for new music and I’ve let myself down because I gradually stopped looking. I started becoming unmotivated in the scene, music, and everything along with it.

I don’t want to be that person that tries to suppress their passion in order to get a job in the corporate world, a job they might hate but gives them a paycheck.

I decided a long time ago that I wanted to go to work and listen to music every day.

This blog is for me and to not let myself down. This blog is for you; if you like all kinds of music, you can read through everything. If you only like one kind, well, I hope you read through everything and find something new that intrigues and interests you, or maybe just something new in your genre of interest. I want to provide bands and fans with new information on music and even the music industry.

Thanks for reading and I hope you find something you like.

P.S. If I post about any Sony artist/band, it’s because I REALLY like them, not because I work for them.

K, thanks.

Buy a Shirt, GIVE a Shirt

Sunday, August 22nd, 2010

You know how in movies or TV shows teenagers in High School always end up getting a job at some fast food restaurant with the dumbest name? Like “Sue Ellen” in Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead, she gets a job at Clown Dog? Well, when I was in High School, I worked at Wetzel’s Pretzels and every time I say that, it sounds kind of cliche and silly.

Well, the day Warped Tour rolled around, about 80% of us working there requested the day off to go. We spent the day watching bands and baking under the sun with our new found family/co-workers.

Two of my co-workers were twins Joel and Edwin. Since then, we have been the three to stick around in the “music biz” and have always run into each other at Bamboozle Left and Warped Tour. This year, they introduced me to their clothing company, Give.

Give is an amazing idea with a great message behind it. You buy a shirt, and they give the same one to someone less fortunate. That simple and that easy. You get an awesome t-shirt and help someone out at the same time.

Give Clothing Company

This is the shirt I’m buying.  I think you should buy one too!  I love helping out great causes and this is one of them.  So, whip out that ATM card and go for it =)

Flashback: Mary J. Blige “Everything”

Saturday, August 21st, 2010

Mary J Blige Share My World

I had to make the trek up the 15 Freeway to Apple Valley today to run some errands for my dad while he is out of town.  I decided to take a little trip down memory lane and visit my old house in Victorville.  Good times in that house but I remember one of my very first memories I created back then and it included Mary J. Blige, my sister Jenny, and my cousin Jeannette.

When I say back in the day, I mean back in the day like I was around 9 or 10 years old.  That’s over 10 years ago!  This back in the day was also the day of cassettes and listening to radio instead of podcasts and mp3s.

So I remember my parents being gone and Jenny, Jeannette and I were unpacking things around the house.  They both were obsessed with Mary J. Blige’s single at the time, “Everything” so they had the radio blasting throughout the house, just waiting for the song to come on 99.1 KGGI (the only top 40 station you could hear in Victorville at the time).  If I remember it right, they had a tape in the stereo just waiting for the song to come on so they could record it.  This was back when you would sit by the radio so you could record your favorite song and listen to it over and over until you got sick of it.  Kids nowadays won’t know what that’s like and it makes me kind of sad.

I digress; so the song came on and they screamed their heads off, run up the stairs to the radio to blast it even louder and started singing along.  My sister, cousin and older brother influenced my musical tastes a lot back then and I stole their CDs so I can listen to their music and be “cool like them” (haha).

The point of my story is that I love when you hear a song and it gives you that feeling that you felt when you heard it first, you remember the memories, sometimes it brings you closer to someone, it’s so powerful.  In case you don’t remember “Everything”, here it is for your listening pleasure:

My question to you is, do you remember a song that you sat by the radio waiting hours for so you could record and listen to over and over?  If so, what was it?

Love. Life. Music.

Sam Tsui, Summer Pop Medley

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Sam Tsui

facebook.com/SamTsuiMusic

This little gem is floating around Tumblr and it blew my mind.  Talk about a Summer Hits medley!

Sam Tsui is currently an undergrad from Yale who started covering songs on youtube and became one of those as-seen-on-youtube stars doing covers of famous songs.

If it wasn’t for this nicely done little medley, I wouldn’t have looked twice.  But he has a very nice voice and LOVE what he did with these songs.  He mixes in B.O.B ft. Hayley Williams – Airplanes, Lady Gaga – Alejandro, Ke$ha – Your Love Is My Drug, Katy Perry – California Girls, and Usher – OMG.

Listen up!

Listen to Almost Alice Soundtrack

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

I’m definitely stoked to see “Alice in Wonderland”.  I feel like it’s been talked about and promoted for forever now and I’m getting impatient.  Songs are leaking off of the soundtrack and it just causes more anxiety.  I haven’t been a fan of a soundtrack since Garden State (sounds typical, I know).  This is going to be good though and I can’t wait to hear the whole thing.  Full stream on myspace, February 28th. In the mean time – listen to a clip of each song below through this widget.

Save the HOLLYWOOD Sign

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

We interrupt the usual blogging for this short message from Hollywood.

That’s right.  If you live in LA, you might see the Hollywood letters be taken down and perhaps replaced by residential homes.  Read more about it here, http://www.savehollywoodland.org/.
